Hi - Ive just got an 'all new galaxy' ex demonstrator. It comes with the ghia x pack and includes advanced bluetooth and voice control. There are no instructions for this in the manual. Does anyone know where I can download them or even a contact email for ford uk. The dealer (Hartwells of Kidlington) are completely useless and have been all thru the transaction, now I've got the car I want nothing more to do with them!

Thanks

Martyn

duh - now I feel really stupid. I looked on the website but didn't associate customer services with legal stuff so didn't click there. the email link tells me there has been a problem processing my request but I'm on hold as I type this - apparently all their agents are busy at the moment and my call will be answered as soon as possible. thanks for your help - sorry to be so thick.

Did you get the instructions for this?

I have a ZETEC with the same option - also ex demonstrator.

I found if you press the voice button and wait it lists the commands. If you then select one of them - like CD - it then lists al the available commands again.

Complete waste of time - quicker to use the left hand and sort manually!

However the bluetooth phone integration is brilliant

Cheers,

Sadly my integrated bluetooth phone kit is proving to be a real problem now and I wondered if anybody else was experiencing issues with theirs?

  • On long journeys, if I stop at for instance the services, I can't reconnect my phone (or any phone - tried 4 different ones!).
  • The connection drops in calls
  • Sometimes - just not able to connect at all :-(

The most annoying thing is that Ford don't seem to be interested in fixing an intermittent fault - despite being under warranty. I've shown them the problem once - but today I spent an hour trying to demonstrate the probelm again and it worked perfectly.

Any suggestions?

Andy

Andy,

The car is under 3 years old. The fact that it is an ex demonstrator has no bearing on the case.

The car is sold new with a manufacturers 3 year warranty to the dealer who uses the car as a demo. When he has finished with the car he then sells it on to you.

It must have the remainder of the 3 year manufacturers warranty with it.

Ford have no choice but to solve the problem. It clearly isn't a common problem, otherwise there would be more mention of it in this forum or even a vechicle recall from Ford.

Are you sure it's not the phone causing the problem......In my opinion Sony Erricson phones are terrible for dropping bluetooth connections randomly.

As far as Ford's attitude goes they are dogging their resposibilities. Try mentioning Trading Standars to them that might help them change their minds, it usually works for me with other manufacturers, BBC Watchdog is another good one.

Stick with it, and count yourself luck you ain't bought a BMW or Saab.....yuk

I use a Sony Ericcson K800i with my bluetooth setup and have had no connection or maintaining connection issues.

The instructions for the Voice Control system, including managing the phone function are in the main manual towards the back. I can check the page numbers if this would help.

The other voice instructions are there for the climate and audio system.

I spoke at length with the dealer - he was desperate to rule out the phone, so I pointed out it did it with:

  • Nokia N80
  • Nokia 6233
  • Nokia 6130
  • Sony Ericcson K800i
  • Siemens Benq - no idea on model

He got the point and then advised me the Bluetooth kit is actually from Nokia - so it should be pretty good.

The dealer want the car for 2 days next to run tests - either that or they need something to ferry customers around with :-(

Will update with the results...

Good luck! Saying they want the car for 2 days sounds like they don't have a clue what they are going to do but hopefully within that time they will stumble across something that has been causing the problem.

I have had 4 or 5 Fords with the Bluetooth kit and more often than not the instructions are not provided with the car ! There is/was a separate booklet for the bluetooth and voice recognition system that the dealer should provide, and if anyone doesn't have it, I suggest just asking your dealer for a copy. In practice, I think the dealers put the manuals, etc in the car rather than them arriving with the car from the factory. As the bluetooth set up is not identifiable visually, I suppose (being uncharcteristically generous to the dealer) it is easy to miss this at PDI time.

I have to echo Andy Crome's comments that the bluetooth phone connection is brilliant, and the voice recognition useless - whether is recognises Spanish/English/Swaheli/whatever using your finger is always quicker, easier and safer. It is most useful for a bit a fun with the kids - tell it a few child-friendly rude words, and it will have them in stitches !!

By the way, I have successfully used a Sony Ericsson K750 and several Nokias with the bluetooth connection. I understand that the system tends to work most reliably with Nokia phones, so this may be worth bearing in mind when picking your next phone. My current Nokia 6021 works fine.
